Elias Adam Bitar is a Mexican lawyer specialized in taxes. During his trajectory, Elías has advised individuals and companies on local, federal and international tax matters and helped his clients design and implement corporate planning, and estate and succession planning strategies.


Elias’ practice is focused principally on providing services to high net worth individuals and families and to tax-exempt organizations, as well as to companies with international operations in the technology, energy and real-estate development industries as well as the financial sector.


Work history


Elías began his career working for two years in the firm Adam y Asociados Abogados, and afterwards he joined Ortiz, Sainz y Erreguerena (known at the time as Ortiz, Sainz y Tron) where he worked in that firm’s tax advisory and tax planning services area until 2001. Elías then worked for the New York firm White & Case until 2004. Elías then joined Tron Abogados where he became partner in 2009.


On 2013, Elías joined the global firm EY as a partner and led the firm’s Private Client Services in Mexico. He also served as the Mexican delegate of EY’s Global Center for Technology in the Bay Area of California, USA focusing on providing international tax services to clients in the technology and biotechnology industries. Elías worked out of EY’s office in San Diego, California.


From October 2019 on, Elías leads his own practice as CEO of Common Lineage, LLC.


Education, certifications and awards


Elías received his law degree (Cum Laude) from the Universidad Panamericana, where he later completed a Master’s Degree in Tax Law. Elías eventually went on to complete another post-graduate degree in International Financial Law from Oxford University.


In 2011, Elías received certification as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners located in London, England. He has also been certified as a tax expert by the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants located in Mexico City.


Elias served as academic coordinator for the international tax program at the Universidad Panamericana Law School located in Mexico City and he taught several courses of the University’s post-graduate law and accounting degree programs.


Elías has also been a guest speaker for various courses and has contributed to publications organized and published by The Academy and Finance in Geneva, the University of Vienna, the International Fiscal Association (Rotterdam, Netherlands), the University of San Francisco and New York University.


Elías was ranked as recognized practitioner in Tax by: Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. His work has received over 50 awards from a wide range of organizations, such as the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants, Mexican Association of Public Accountants, the Mexican Bar Association, the Illustrious National Bar Association of Mexico, the Mexican Supreme Court, Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the International Fiscal Association (Mexico and Bolivia), the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (England , USA and Panama) and the Euromoney Legal Training program (England).
